THE forensic audit on the transfer of ownership of a parcel of Felda land in Kuala Lumpur, will begin tomorrow, said its chairman Shahrir Samad.
He said there will be no compromise and if there is proof of any wrongdoing, those involved will have to face action.
Former Felda chairman Mohd Isa Abdul Samad was questioned by police on Friday as the authorities began investigations into the ownership transfer of the Felda land.
“We will take action. It can be internally or through legal means.
He added that the cost of the forensic audit, which will be conducted by a foreign firm, will be borne by the Prime Minister’s Office.
This is not the first time Felda is being audited for malpractice in its business dealings.
Shahrir said an audit was conducted after the suspension of its former managing director Faizoull Ahmad.
The audit was done on projects under his supervision, among them the Sturgeon fish breeding project worth RM47.6 million.
“The audit was done in 2015 and later another audit was conducted by the auditor-general.
“Action was taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission following the audit and later, the case was taken to court,” Shahrir said.
Prime Minister Najib Razak on Thursday announced that the government had appointed a foreign firm in December to conduct a forensic audit in the land deal scandal.
Four Felda land parcels worth RM270 million had its ownership transferred to Synergy Promenade, a company that was given letter of authority to develop the land.
The land is expected to be developed for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project.
The land transaction occurred when Isa was chairman of Felda. – January 7, 2018.
