2,776 new Covid-19 cases, Selangor has most infections

MALAYSIA has recorded 2,776 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

According to Noor Hisham, including the latest infections, at least 395,718 Malaysians have been infected with Covid-19, with 24,713 active cases.

Noor Hisham said the country reported 1,803 recovery cases today, putting the national recovery toll at 369,556.

He said 1,449 people have died with 13 fatalities reported today.

Today is the 12th day running that there have been more than 2,000 daily infections.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said Selangor recorded the highest number of cases 762, followed by Sarawak with 615.

Of the new cases in Selangor, Noor Hisham said a total of 577 cases were from clusters and close contact screening of Covid-19 positive cases.

The rest of the states such as Kelantan recorded 343 cases followed by Johor (309), Kuala Lumpur (254), Penang (123), Negeri Sembilan (112), Sabah (88), Perak (45), Kedah (39), Malacca (34), Pahang (34), Terengganu (9), Putrajaya (7) and Labuan (2).

Perlis is the only state that did not record any new cases today.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said the 13 fatalities today were all at-risk individuals who had a history of chronic medical conditions.

He said there are currently 300 patients being treated in intensive care, with 133 needing respiratory assistance. – April 26, 2021.
