DISSATISFIED with the seats it has been allocated in Johor, the Amanah state unit is boycotting the Pakatan Harapan (PH) convention today, said Amiroulhuda Hasan.

The state party chairman said the decision to sit out the event was made after Amanah Johor found out that it had been allocated only two parliamentary seats to contest in the next general election.

“We asked for five parliamentary seats but were only given two – Parit Sulong and Pulai.

“We think that we do not have to come. All Amanah Johor leaders are not coming,” he said at the venue of the PH convention, which starts in Shah Alam, Selangor today.

Johor has 26 parliamentary seats.

The Malaysian Insight understands that the PH presidential council yesterday reached a consensus on seat allocations to the component parties. In Johor, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia will be contesting 10 parliamentary seats, PKR eight, DAP six and Amanah two.

State Amanah leaders today instructed all the party delegates to give  the PH convention a miss.

“We want a fair share, like what the other component parties received. We built PH together in Johor and it’s a relationship that began in Pakatan Rakyat,” he said.

The members, in leaving PAS to form Amanah, had made a sacrifice to be in PH,  he said.

“At least give us an equal share.

“We are asking for five seats. But the end we only get two. That is why we are not satisfied,” said a state Amanah leader speaking on a condition of anonymity

In yesterday’s meeting, PH leadership also named its chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad the opposition prime minister. – January 7, 2018.
