SEVEN new Covid-19 clusters were traced by the health authorities today, with community infections dominating the list, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health Director-General said of the seven clusters, four were community-based, two linked to education sectors and one was workplace related.
Two of the community-based clusters were reported in Sarawak, with Sg Rian reporting the most cases, where 48 people tested positive for coronavirus.
The other, Kg Tengah Bentong, reported 15 positive cases.
The third community cluster is in Selangor, called Jalan Meranti, and has nine positive cases.
The fourth is the Taman Dato Senu cluster in Kuala Lumpur, with 12 infections.
The infections in both the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur community-based clusters were caused by events held in their respective localities, Noor Hisham said in a statement.
On clusters involving education institutions, he said they were reported in Kelantan and Penang.
The Jalan Pasir Mas-Pohon Tanjung cluster was detected at an education institution involving the districts of Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah in Kelantan, where a total of 28 staff and students were infected.
The other educational cluster was Jalan Padang Lallang, detected at a government school in Seberang Perai Tengah, Penang. It had nine confirmed cases involving students.
The sole workplace cluster today is Hala Kg Jawa, detected among factory workers in Penang, with 23 cases.
The seven new clusters bring the number of virus groupings to 1,541, where 240 are active and with 67 of them reporting new cases today.
Clusters reporting a high number of fresh infections today are Pulai Chondong with 79 cases, followed by Kg Domis (51 cases) and the newly traced Sg Rian (47 cases).
