7 new Covid-19 clusters today

THE Health Ministry today reported seven new Covid-19 clusters, including two linked to detention centres.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also declared the end of another seven clusters.

With this, he said the total number of active clusters in the country remained unchanged at 346.

He said the Immigration clusters were the DTI Sandakan cluster in Sandakan, Sabah which reported 55 cases, whereas the DTI Lenggeng cluster in Seremban and Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan reported 70 cases.

Apart from that, Noor Hisham said  a social event led to the discovery of 50 cases in the Jepak cluster. The cluster, which was detected in Bintulu, Sarawak, was the sole community transmission cluster reported today.

Health authorities also reported one education cluster of 18 cases in Bentong, Pahang. The cluster, known as Sri Layang, was detected at an institute in a locality of the same name.

He said the remaining three clusters were linked to workplaces such as a factory, a public institute and an entertainment centre.

Nor Hisham said the clusters were reported in Selangor, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur respectively.

Noor Hisham also announced that the Jalan Daun, Jalan Besar Kepong, Sg Puteh, Jalan Kebun Nenas, Industri TTJ, Persiaran Hemisfera and Lorong Usaha Utama clusters are now inactive. – April 16, 2021.
