SANDAKAN in Sabah will be placed under the movement-control order (MCO) from April 17 to 30 following a spike in Covid-19 cases, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

At the same time, the National Security Council has also agreed to extend the MCO in Tawau until April 30. It was to have ended tomorrow, he added.

He said the Health Ministry today reported a sharp increase in Covid-19-positive cases in the two districts.

In Tawau, there was an increase in active Covid-19 cases from 124 to 729 cases in the past 14 days.

As for Sandakan, a total of 46 new cases were recorded, with a cumulative total of 6,806 infections.

He also said the enhanced MCO will be extended at Henry Gurney School in Telok Mas, Malacca due to the high number of cases.

“The MoH has conducted 1,710 screening tests and out of that number, a total of 191 positive Covid-19 cases were recorded, hence the EMCO will go on until April 30.”

At the same time, Sekolah Menengah Ugama Tarbiah Diniah Tahfiz Bunut Sarang Burung in Tumpat, Kelantan, and Kuching police training centre and its staff quarters in Kuching, Sarawak will be placed under EMCO for two weeks from tomorrow. – April 15, 2021.
