SELANGOR topped the daily Covid-19 chart today by contributing 517 of 1,889 new infections in the past 24 hours, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

After two consecutive days of topping the daily Covid-19 table, Sarawak dropped to second spot with 489 cases reported in the state.

Kelantan, on the other hand, recorded 226 cases to round up the top three.

Perlis, which did not record any cases yesterday, had three new cases today.

This means all the states in the country reported new infections today.

The nation’s cumulative caseload is now at 365,829.

On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 1,485 people were discharged from hospitals.

However, since new cases outnumbered recoveries, the number of active cases in the country increased to 16,696.

Of this, 204 patients are admitted in intensive care units, with 79 of them requiring breathing assistance.

Eight fatalities were also reported today, taking the death toll to 1,353.

Five deaths were reported in Sarawak and one each in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah.

Seven victims were local, while the sole victim in Sabah was a foreigner. – April 14, 2021.
