1,285 new Covid-19 cases, Selangor highest

FRESH Covid-19 cases today were up by more than 100 at 1,285, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said on Twitter.

Yesterday’s new cases were 1,139.

The new cases in the last 24 hours raise the country’s total caseload to 355,753.

Selangor registered the highest number of new cases today, at 374. This was followed by Sarawak (211) and Penang (162).

Putrajaya and Perlis, which reported no cases yesterday, logged 19 and one infections respectively. 

Of today’s fresh cases, Noor Hisham said only 17 were imported while the remaining were local transmissions.

On recoveries, he said 1,175 people have been discharged, leaving current active cases at 14,203.

Of active cases, 186 patients are currently warded in intensive care units, 81 of whom require respiratory support.

There were also four fatalities, raising the national death toll from the virus to 1,308.

All the deceased had a history of co-morbidities. – April 8, 2021.
