FORMER Felda chairman Isa Samad, who was to give his statement to the police yesterday as part of investigations into a land transaction involving the agency’s land on Jalan Semarak, will do so today instead.

Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun told The New Straits Times that Isa requested to postpone a meeting with police at the Commercial Crime Investigation Department headquarters yesterday.

“I was later informed that he could not make it today (yesterday). He will only come tomorrow (today),” NST quoted Fuzi as saying.

Police are investigating a 2015 deal on the land valued at RM270 million, earmarked for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) development project that would feature seven towers, including Menara Felda.

The land was transferred to a company granted power of attorney to develop the land during Isa’s tenure as Felda chairman from 2011 to January 2017.

The company was appointed by Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC) on June 3, 2014 but the land development was only revealed to the Felda board of directors three months later for backdated approval.

The company then sold the land to itself for RM270 million and Felda did not receive a sen. – January 5, 2018.
