Six new Covid-19 clusters, 5 linked to workplaces

SIX new Covid-19 clusters were identified in the past 24 hours with five linked to workplaces, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health Ministry director-general said that of the five workplace clusters, two were reported in Selangor, while one each was detected in Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur.

The other cluster reported today was a community-based cluster in Kedah.

A total of 116 cases were reported from all six clusters, where the workplace clusters alone contributed 103 cases.

Noor Hisham said the Lorong Dua workplace cluster reported at a factory in Selangor reported the most cases, with 41 positive cases detected.

The other cluster reported in Selangor, detected at a factory in Hulu Langat is dubbed Taman Komersial. A total of 14 cases were traced here.

The Jalan Inovasi cluster, involving workers of a cafeteria, spreads over Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Fourteen cases were detected here.

In Malacca, the Jalan Mata Kuching cluster was reported at an education centre and a total of 16 cases are reported here.

The final workplace cluster was detected at a service company in Seremban 2, Negeri Sembilan, which has reported 18 coronavirus cases.

The sole community-based cluster, reported in the district of Kuala Muda, Kedah was caused by a social event. A total of 13 coronavirus cases have come from this cluster.

Noor Hisham said the six new clusters reported today brings the total number of clusters in the country to 1,411, where 355 are still active.

Of the active clusters, 48 of them have reported new cases today.

The clusters reporting the most cases today are Jalan Jelawat with 34 cases, followed by Kampung Binyu (34) cases and Pulau Enoe (14 cases).

Noor Hisham said that 10 clusters ended today, bringing the number of clusters to conclude in the country to 1,056. – April 5, 2021.
