Mother, baby die in car crash

A MOTHER and her 14-day-old daughter were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed into a road divider in Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Ampang Jaya police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said in the 10.30pm incident, the victim’s husband, who was the driver of the car, escaped with minor injuries while the couple’s four-year-old son suffered serious injuries.

They were rushed to Ampang Hospital for treatment.

Farouk said the accident occurred as the car in which the family was travelling was heading to Lembah Jaya from Ampang.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle before it crashed into the road divider and skidded into the opposite lane.

Farouk said the woman, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was killed on the spot, while the baby girl succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama, April 2, 2021.

  • The police have got to stop people from sitting in the Front passenger seat and a baby unsecured on their lap. A baby must be in a safety seat in the back. Parents must learn from these tragic and needless deaths.
