Education centres, factories among workplace clusters today

There are 362 active clusters in the country currently with 55 reporting an increase in cases in the last 24 hours. Six new clusters have been reported today. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Najjua Zulkefli, April 1, 2021.

EDUCATION centres and factories are the sites of six new Covid-19 clusters reported today.

Five of them are at workplaces and one involves community transmission, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement.

The six clusters are located in Selangor, Johor, Penang and Pahang with a total of 146 cases. 

Workplace clusters:

1. Sg Ramal in Hulu Langat, Selangor, involving at an education centre in Taman Sri Kenari, Kajang, with 15 infections. 

2. Bukit Serdang in Hulu Langat and Petaling in Selangor, at a factory in Taman Bukit Serdang, with 29 positive cases. 

3. Jalan Teluk Kumbar in Barat Daya, Penang, at an education centre with 12 infected. 

4. Kait Gading in Batu Pahat, Johor, at a factory in Jalan Wawasan 16, with 65 positive cases. 

5. Jalan Permas Cetak in Johor Baru, Johor, at a factory in Jalan Permai Jaya 9/13, with nine infections.  

Community cluster:

6. Taman Emas in Lipis, Pahang, named after the residential area of the index case in Taman Emas Lipis, with 16 infections.  

Meanwhile, 55 clusters reported an increase in cases in the last 24 hours.

Clusters with the highest number of new cases today are Jalan Jelawat (105 cases), Kait Gading (64 cases) and Rimbayan (15 cases). – April 1, 2021.
