THE National Security Council has agreed to allow employees to be back at workplaces in conditional movement control order (CMCO) areas from April 1, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said this means the previous directive of only 30% of management staff allowed at the workplaces is rescinded.

Ismail said businesses, especially factories, can operate at full capacity.

“The special meeting yesterday agreed to rescind the 30% work-from-home rule for managers and supervisors (in CMCO areas) as factory workers cannot operate remotely,” he said.

“Factory workers are often engaged in complex and technical work, with different staff having to work together simultaneously.

The lifting of the rule  “will also allow companies to operate at a maximum capacity”, Ismail said.

He added that working hours for civil servants will be announced by the Public Service Department as and when required. – March 30, 2021.
