Nine new Covid-19 clusters in workplaces, community, says health D-G

THE Health Ministry today reported nine new Covid-19 clusters, with five of them arising from workplaces, three in the community and one high-risk group. 

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the nine clusters are in Selangor,  Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, Sabah and Johor, and collectively reported 135 cases. 

In the past 24 hours, 50 clusters had reported an increase in cases.  

The cluster with the highest number of new cases today are Penjara Jalan Harapan (73 cases), Batu Enam Setengah (37 cases), and Tapak Bina Persiaran Freesia (27 cases).

The five workplace clusters are:

1. Jalan Western Sepang in Sepang and Petaling, Selangor. It arose at a farm in Western Acess Road. This cluster has 19 infections. 

2. Jalan SC Satu in Hulu Langat, Selangor at factory with six positive cases. 

3. Jalan Pinang Raja in Petaling and Klang, Selangor at an education centre with 25 positive cases. 

4. Batu Enam Setengah in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan at a factory with 47 infections. 

5. Jalan Sulaiman in Kepong, Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai involving a service company with 12 positive cases.

The three community clusters are: 

1. Fasa Dua Semarak cluster in Tawau, Sabah screening at the Taman Semarak community resulted in six infections. 

2. Ranggu cluster in Tawau, Sabah at a community in the Ranggu Sri Tanjung village resulting in eight infections. 

3. Jalan Merak cluster in Kulai, Johor at the Jalan Merak 21, Bandar Putra community resulting in seven cases. 

The sole high-risk group cluster is called Kota Kemajuan. It arose in Johor Baru and Kota Tinggi, Johor, at a haemodialysis centre involving five positive cases. – March 30, 2021.
