Malaysia logs 1,133 new Covid-19 cases

Malaysia returned to four-digit Covid-19 cases today at 1,133, after logging three-digit infections at 941 for the first time this year yesterday. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, March 30, 2021.

MALAYSIA today recorded 1,133 new Covid-19 cases, up from the 941 infections reported yesterday, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

Yesterday was the first time this year the daily infections had fallen below the 1,000 mark. 

On his Twitter account today, Noor Hisham said in the last 24 hours, Selangor continued to record high Covid-19 cases at 401.  

This is followed by Penang with 194 cases and Sarawak with 153 cases. 

Noor Hisham said this brings the country’s caseload to 344,018. 

Recoveries also exceeded today’s fresh cases, with 1,148 patients discharged, bringing the total to 328,554. 

Active cases stand at 14,119, of which 161 are in intensive care, with 76 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also five deaths, bringing the toll to 1,265.

The deaths today involved five male Malaysians from Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak and Selangor. 

All had co-morbidities and were aged between 34 and 88. – March 30, 2021.
