Covid-19 infections fall below 1,000 mark with 941 new cases

COVID-19 cases fell below the 1,000 mark for the first time this year, with 941 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

The last time cases were at three digits was on December 9, with 959 cases.  

On his Twitter account today, Noor Hisham said this brings the country’s cumulative number of Covid-19 cases to 342,885.  

Recoveries also exceeded today’s fresh cases, with 1,097 patients discharged, bringing the total to 327,406. 

Active cases stand at 14,219, of which 166 are in intensive care, with 73 requiring respiratory assistance.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases at 219, followed by Sarawak (192) and Johor (171).

There were also five deaths, bringing the toll to 1,260.

The deaths today involved four Malaysians and one foreigner. The four Malaysians all had co-morbidities and were aged between 42 and 82.

However, there was no information available on the 64-year-old male foreigner who died in Sabah. – March 29, 2021.
