3 factories in Nilai contribute 51 cases in four new clusters today

FOUR new Covid-19 clusters were reported by the Health Ministry in the past 24 hours, with two of them linked to workplaces, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The health director-general said a high-risk group cluster and a community cluster completed the list of newly detected clusters.

A total of 148 cases were reported from these four clusters.

Dr Noor Hisham said the community-cluster detected in Sarawak dubbed Chupak reported the most cases, with 57 people testing positive for Covid-19.

The two workplace clusters reported 75 cases.

The Industry Permata Dua cluster was detected at three factories in Arab Malaysian Industrial Estate, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. A total of 51 Covid-19 cases were reported here.

The second workplace cluster named Jalan Wawasan Dua was reported at a factory in Batu Pahat, Johor, where 24 cases were reported.

Dr Noor Hisham said the Jalan Alam high-risk cluster was reported in Selangor, which spreads over the districts of Kuala Langat, Klang and Petaling.

This cluster involves a medical centre, and 16 cases thus far have been detected.

He said these four new clusters bring the number of clusters in the country to 1,314 with 395 said to be active and 56 of still reporting new cases.

Among the active clusters reporting high cases are, Persiaran Sunsuria construction site with 52 cases, followed by the newly traced Industry Permata Dua (51 cases) and Technology Lot Enam (48 cases).

Dr Noor Hisham said eight clusters ended today, bringing the total number of clusters which ended to 919. – March 24, 2021.
