EVERYTHING in the police force is under control, said Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador days after revealing there was a group of young officers intent on bringing him down.
Hamid said it was not his intention to scare the public but merely to inform them of what was happening in the police force.
“Things got heated after my interview, but the public has the right to know. They deserve better from the police,” Hamid told the media at Selangor police headquarters.
“I wanted to make things clear. For now, the matter is under control. However, I would like to remind this group of police officers stop what they are doing.”
In an interview with Malay daily, Sinar Harian on Wednesday, Hamid said there were junior police officers linked to criminal gangs who were out to tarnish his image and oust him from the force.
Hamid, who was made IGP during the Pakatan Harapan administration in May 2019, has constantly warned his men to stay clear of graft.
Hamid said he will explain the situation to Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin soon, after the minister professed apparent ignorance.
“This is the first time I am hearing about this. If it really happened, it was not raised during the Police Force Commission meeting,” Hamzah said in response to Hamid’s allegation.
However, Hamid said he has no intention of bringing the matter up to the commission.
“I will meet the minister to explain it in person,” said Hamid. – March 22, 2021.
