THE government has set up a RM10 million fund to recompense people experiencing adverse side effects after receiving a Covid-19 vaccine.

Health Minister Dr Adham Baba said the compensation scheme will be available to Malaysians and foreigners.

Restitution could amount to RM500,000 for death or permanent disability resulting from inoculation, he said.’

The fund will be managed by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).

Those who suffer serious side effects from the inoculation and require prolonged treatment at the hospital will be eligible for compensation of up to RM50,000.

“The government cares about the well-being of the people and the Covid-19 vaccine recipients. We want people to be confident in receiving the Covid-19 jab,” he said in the weekly press conference on the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme today.

The government had also established three committees to oversee and evaluate vaccination safety and post-immunisation effects.

These include the Special National Pharmacovigilance Committee, the Medical Technical Committee and the core committee for the special aid scheme for vaccine injuries.

He said the three committees will jointly evaluate the eligibility of the claimant while the payment will be disbursed by Nadma. – March 22, 2021.
