THE Health Ministry recorded 3,170 Covid-19 cases among interstate travellers from January 1 to March 21, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The director-general of health said the interstate cases refers to cases of Covid-19 infection reported in one state but believed to originate from other states as a result of cross-state activities.

He said the three states that showed or reported the highest number cases were Kedah, with 714 cases, Perak with 582 cases and Negri Sembilan with 370 cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said the interstate clusters have also shown an increase since the third wave began on September 20.

He said following the increase in the interstate clusters, the government announced the movement control order  and travel ban since January 13.

“After the ban was implemented for several months, the national daily new cases involving inter state clusters began to show a consistent decline.

“The last inter state cluster reported on January 30, the Tersat cluster in Terengganu.” – March 21, 2021.
