DAP is willing to work with Umno to help restore Parliament but will not work with the Malay party in the coming general election, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
“DAP reiterates there is no political cooperation with Umno, and the central committee has not changed its previous policy on this,” he said.
Lim said the party is willing to cooperate for the people’s benefit as it had done in Perak and Johor with the state governments led by Umno, where allocations were given to opposition constituencies.
“This is different from political cooperation in the coming general election,” he said.
“We now have a strange situation where every business establishment, school, pasar malam, and even sports stadium is open, except Parliament,” the Bagan MP said when opening the Penang state convention today.
He said the Penang government is prepared to uphold parliamentary democracy and convene the assembly but could not do it as Parliament and state assemblies are suspended during the current state of emergency.
Lim said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had also said Parliament can convene during the emergency.
Lim added that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s strong criticism of Myanmar for suspending Parliament was ironic when he is equally guilty of doing the same in Malaysia. – March 21, 2021.

even only during parliament sessions only, it goes to say that you are a a leader desperate for power. A high majority of Umno grassroots has low regards for DAP and its leader like you..
