THE government has yet to decide on allowing the public to travel across states to return to their hometowns for Hari Raya celebrations, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
Ismail Sabri told a press conference that the Health Ministry will advise the National Security Council on the matter depending on daily recorded cases of Covid-19.
“I know everyone wants to know if they can balik kampung for Hari Raya but we are yet to decide on it. The Health Ministry will assess the situation before advising the NSC on the issue.
“Hopefully, we can travel if cases are decreasing but we cannot allow cases to increase. Kelantan is a good example, from being a green zone, the state became a red zone because of interstate travels,” said Ismail Sabri.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the government has agreed to impose the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) at the YTY factory and its workers’ hostel in Sitiawan, Perak.
“The EMCO will start from March 19 until April 1 after 60 cases were detected from the factory,” he said.
Speaking further, Ismail Sabri stated that the EMCO at the Henry Gurney school in Malacca will be extended for another 10 days.
This came after the school continued to record high Covid-19 cases.
“The EMCO at the school is supposed to end on March 19 but following 27 new cases in the school, we agreed to prolong the order from March 20 to April 2.
“There are still 171 samples that are still being tested,” he added. – March 18, 2021.
