PKR’S Awang Husaini Sahari said intermediaries approached him at least five times to persuade him to leave PKR for Perikatan Nasional (PN).
The Putatan MP told The Malaysian Insight the calls started after the “Sheraton Move” in February last year, which resulted in PN snatching power from Pakatan Harapan.
“Unknown agents approached me. I didn’t know who they were. They just approached me and told me they wanted to meet me.
“When I asked them what it was all about, they said they wanted to invite me to join PN for some rewards,” the PKR lawmaker said.
“They just called and they said they wanted to meet me but I didn’t want to meet them because I know the intention was to ask me to cross over to PN. So I refused to meet them.
“They tried again, and I kept saying that I was not interested, and after that they stopped calling,” he said.
On the “rewards” that they dangled before him, Awang said the agents did not specify what they were.
“They didn’t offer anything specific because they didn’t want to talk over the phone.”
Yesterday PKR president Anwar Ibrahim revealed that four of the party’s lawmakers were approached to switch allegiance to PN.
He said the MPs were offered money to jump ship and then they turned it down, intimidation tactics were employed.
The four PKR MPs were Awang, M. Karupaiya (Padang Serai), S. Kesavan (Sg Siput), and Michael Teo Yu Leong (Miri).
Another PKR member, Sekijang MP Natrah Ismail had previously said she was offered inducements to jump ship.
Three other PKR lawmakers have left the party in recent weeks to back Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and the PN coalition.
They were Julau MP Larry Sng, Tebrau MP Steven Choong and Kuala Langat MP Xavier Jayakumar. – March 17, 2021.

Wakil rakyat are people's rep and whilst the law allows party hoping at the moment (nevertheless) its truly heart wrenching when a 'hop, step and jump' takes place
The irony this time around was ie at the time when it really mattered before GE14, all parties opted to use a "common symbol cum platform' which sadly disintergrated when the 'dust began to settle'
Anyway, can't undo the past but i guess the voters must a terribly dosappointed lot
Like undi18 we hope an anti lompat akta too takes shape as going by demograpics, malaysia has a very young population
Whilst having breakfast this morning over my roti telor/bawang banjir and sipping a hot piping cup of bru coffee susu lembu, i chanced on an interesting article in the star newspaper on undi18 which made a good analytical read as the next lot that are going to influence elections will be the younger generation
Anyway, lets just pray our beloved country heads in the right direction and there was also talk of revamping the tax system albeit bringing back the GST..
