FINDING too many public officials violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedure, Muda has launched a complaint portal for the public to report on them.

The website lapormenteri.com is to curb the double standards in penalising for their misconduct, the political party said.

“We will come up with a wall of shame for VIPs who violate SOP,” said co-founder, Amir Abdul Hadi.

“We will also come out with a report with details to help us strongly push for stern action.

“Whoever can complain to the portal, just send in the pictures no matter which ministers, whether oppositions or in the government,” he said after lodging a report at the Dang Wangi police station today.

The party submitted a police report on at least four occasions where ministers were seen breaching the SOP.

The latest incident of VIPs who breached the SOP was at the wedding of Jelebu MP Jalaluddin Alias’ daughter on March 14 in Negri Sembilan, they said.

“(Federal Territories Minister) Annuar Musa, (Higher Education Minister) Dr Noraini Ahmad, (Deputy Home Minister I) Dr Ismail Mohamed Said, (TNB Chairman) Mahdzir Khalid crossed state borders in the conditional movement-control order area to attend the wedding,” said another Muda founder Mutalib Uthman.

“On the same date and place, (Finance Minister) Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz together with Jalaluddin Alias, (Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Special Functions) Mastura Yazid, Mahdzir, (former Felda chairman) Isa Samad and (Umno Youth chief) Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki violated the SOP by not wearing a mask.”

Based on Muda’s findings, as of March 14, 458 civilians were summoned, with 438 charged, seven remanded and 13 released on bail.

“Immediate and severe action, however, is not imposed on ministers and politicians.

“The authorities in charge must investigate all cases involving this group of ministers or VIPs.

“They must disclose every process and outcome of the investigation conducted transparently and fairly,” said Mutalib.

Amir assured that Muda will not publish or expose the details of those that report on the portal.

“Currently, Muda has a team of 10 individuals monitoring all of the ministers and VIPs. We launch this in hope that the public, especially the youth will also help us on surveillance.”

Prior to the launch of the complaint portal, Amir said Muda had been receiving messages from the public.

“Sadly, laymen have been arrested but no action until today has been taken against the ministers and VIPs,” he said.

The public has taken their cries on social media for being fined unfairly, the latest including a couple who was shocked to be compounded by an officer from a government agency while eating at a restaurant.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the RM10,000 compound for Covid-19 SOP violation under the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 applies to all categories of MCO.

Ismail Sabri also said police do not have the power to reduce the compound value and the public could appeal the value to their district health office.

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador announced on March 13 that 330 individuals have been issued compound notices of RM10,000 each for flouting the MCO SOP nationwide.

Other VIPs that Muda reported to the police were Annuar at the urban farming programme in Desa Petaling on February 13, Ismail Sabri at his ministry’s official ceremony at PU Sendayan on 13 March, and Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin’s “fun ride” event at Kiara Hills, Kuala Lumpur, also on March 13.

The National Landscape Department then released a statement that it was not a “fun ride”, but a closed event among staff and all SOP was adhered to. – March 16, 2021.
