Govt officials, elected reps make up only 0.11% of those vaccinated, says Khairy

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says government officials and elected representatives accounted for only 0.11% of the 292,104 people who have received their vaccinations to date. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Najjua Zulkefli, March 15, 2021.

GOVERNMENT officials and elected representatives only accounted for 0.11% of the close to 300,000 vaccinations done so far, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Science, Technology and Innovation Minister said only 302 people out of the 292,104 who received their jab as of March 13, belonged to the category.

Healthcare workers comprising nurses, doctors, medical assistants, pharmacists, dentists and others made up for more than 70% of the total vaccinations.

He said others inoculated included security front-liners such as military officers, police, civil defence force, Rela, and customs officers.

The government aims to inoculate 500,000 front-liners in the first phase of the programme, which began on February 24. – March 15, 2021.
