Dalian Wanda looks at RM43 billion projects in Bandar Malaysia

REAL estate giant Dalian Wanda Group has expressed interest in investing some US$10 billion (RM43.4billion) in the Bandar Malaysia project.

In a brief press conference held at Sofitel Wanda Beijing Hotel today, its chairman Wang Jianlin said he has confidence in Malaysia’s investment environment and future, The Star Online reported today. 

“Wanda is interested in developing cultural and tourism infrastructure projects.

“While we are not signing an agreement today, I am here expressing our stand,” Wang said.

Prime Minister Najib Razak was also present at the event. He is currently on a five-day working visit to China.

The Malaysian Insight reported earlier today that the Najib administration favoured a deal with Dalian after the deal with Iskandar Waterfront City lapsed earlier this month. 

Putrajaya returned IWC-CREC’s deposit of RM785.9 million on Tuesday, signalling the end of the joint venture.  – May 13, 2017.
