SELANGOR continued to top the daily Covid-19 cases chart once again as the state reported 551 of the 1,470 infections in the past 24 hours.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Sarawak and Penang completed the top three reporting the most cases, with the states recording 222 and 178 cases respectively.
The new cases mean Malaysia has now reported fewer than 2,000 cases for the seventh day running.
On overall cases by state, Selangor also leads that with 108,419 cases, followed by Sabah (53,864) and Johor (38,965).
Noor Hisham said of the new cases, 12 were imported while the rest were local transmissions.
Besides this, the director-general also said that recoveries outnumbered new infection for the 17th straight day, with 1,830 patients having recuperated and discharged from hospitals.
This further lowers the number of active cases to 16,711.
A total of 162 patients are currently warded in the intensive care unit, with 70 of them requiring respiratory support.
Three fatalities were reported today, taking the death toll to 1,206.
All three victims were male, Malaysians and had underlying medical conditions.
One death each was recorded in the state of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu. β March 13, 2021.
