PRIME Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today assured Malaysians that Perikatan Nasional will share the aspirations of the country for future generations and the coalition was was here to stay for a long time.
“PN is offering a new deal to all Malaysians and we are here to stay for a long time.
“We want to remain a political coalition that shares the aspirations of the country for future generations.
“We want to lead Malaysia more efficiently, effectively and competently,” Muhyiddin, who is also the PN chairman, said via a recorded speech at Gerakan’s 49th national delegates conference.
He said the coalition is committed to governing the country with integrity and credibility, to preserve the wellbeing and welfare of the people as a whole and will continue to preserve the unity of the people of various races and religions.
“I am confident that with our determination to fulfil the aspirations of the people for a better Malaysia, as well as the unity and solidarity we have achieved among the component parties, PN will be the main political coalition choice for Malaysians,” he said.
On Gerakan joining PN, Muhyiddin said the party’s long history and political experience makes them a significant component partner in the coalition, adding its entry would further strengthen the coalition.
“I am very confident that Gerakan’s participation will further strengthen PN as a political coalition at the national level, consisting of parties that represent the multiracial, multireligious and multiregional communities in the country.
“The PN government has always adhered to the principles of diversity and inclusiveness of Malaysian society.
“Hence, the entry of the Gerakan is timely in strengthening PN as a coalition, which is a symbol of the diversity of the plural society in our country,” Muhyiddin said.
Gerakan, formerly a component party of Barisan Nasional, was accepted into PN early this year. – March 13, 2021.
