THE Registrar of Societies (RoS) has been urged to conduct investigations into Bersatu’s first annual general meeting on Saturday for allegedly not being held according to the party’s constitution.

Temerloh Bersatu division chief Amerus Che Onn said the AGM was a self-serving event as it fought only for the interests of a certain individual, and there was no initiative to resolve the crisis in the party itself.

Delegates were not elected according to the party’s constitution. There was no assembly at the branch and divisional levels to elect the delegates attending the first AGM.

“Additionally, the assembly for the Youth and women’s wings was also not held.

“I feel cheated. This is why I am calling on RoS to investigate the matter,” he told reporters after lodging a report at the RoS headquarters in Putrajaya today.

On Saturday, Bersatu held its inaugural AGM, which was attended by 941 delegates from 137 divisions, in Shah Alam after being given a warning by RoS.

Amerus said the AGM focused only on a certain leader, and the delegates were not allowed to air their views.

There are no real party objectives as the top leadership is only struggling for the interests of a certain individual. Internal issues are not resolved.

He called on Dr Mahathir Mohamad to resign as Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan chairman, saying the former prime minister was only fighting for his personal interests.

Previously, RoS had warned Bersatu over three offences, namely not holding its AGM, the setting up of its Youth wing and postponing its AGM not in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution, which could lead to the party being deregistered. – Bernama, January 2, 2018.
