NINE new Covid-19 clusters were identified in the last 24 hours by the Health Ministry with six linked to workplaces, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said in a statement today that the other clusters reported today were community based and high-risk groups.
The nine new clusters were in Johor (3), Kuala Lumpur (2), Selangor (1), Penang (1), Pahang (1) and Kedah (1).
A total of 271 cases were reported from these nine clusters.
Of this, 214 cases, or 78.9%, were from workplace clusters.
The workplace clusters, named after the road or location they are at, are:
1.Medan Bayan Lepas, detected at a factory in Penang with 65 cases.
2. Jalan Nusa Mega, in Johor Baru, at a factory, with 36 cases.
3. Jalan Industry A1, in Tangkak, Johor, with 21 cases.
4. Jalan U-Thant construction cluster, in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, with 35 cases.
5. Jalan Salak construction cluster in Lembah Pantai, with 16 cases.
6. Lorong Kilang, in Selangor, involving a factory, with 41 infections.
Besides the workplace clusters, the ones involving community infections are the Sungai Lembing cluster in Pahang and Jalan Setia Jaya in Johor.
The Jalan Setia Jaya cluster involves a reception event and now has 28 infections, while Sungai Lembing cluster was the result of symptomatic screening and now has 13 cases.
The sole high-risk cluster today is Amanjaya, involving a medical centre in Bandar Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani, with 16 cases.
The nine new Covid-19 clusters today bring the total clusters in the country to 1,212, of which 457 are currently active. Sixty-three of these active clusters reported new cases today.
Nineteen clusters ended today, taking the total number of clusters to conclude to 755. β March 9, 2021.
