Sri Jelutung quarters in Pahang under EMCO starting tomorrow

THE Sri Jelutung plantation workers’ quarters in Pekan, Pahang will be placed under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) beginning tomorrow until March 19, said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said as of March 3, a total of 30 positive cases have been recorded within the vicinity of the quarters.

“After conducting a risk assessment and with advice from the Health Ministry, the government has agreed to tighten the MCO for the Sri Jelutung quarters,” he said.

He said the EMCO will allow health authorities to carry out targeted Covid-19 screening on the occupants of the quarters as well as close contact tracing.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also announced the termination of EMCO for housing estates around Jalan Telok Ira in Temerloh, Pahang which is scheduled to end tomorrow.

He said to date, health authorities have conducted 1,573 screening tests and only 94 residents were positive. – March 5, 2021.
