EMCO at Malacca’s Henry Gurney school, two Rumah Sewa in Bintulu

RUMAH Sewa Anung and Rumah Sewa Beverly Hills in Bintulu, Sarawak along with the Henry Gurney School in Telok Mas, Malacca will be placed under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) starting this week, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the two Rumah Sewa in Bintulu will begin its EMCO tomorrow until March 18, while the Henry Gurney school will undergo EMCO on Saturday until March 19.

Ismail Sabri said health authorities have since conducted 1,147 Covid-19 screening on residents living within the Rumah Sewa community, with 84 cases found to be positive.

“Due to this and the high infection rate, the National Security Council, with the advice of the Health Ministry, have decided to place this location under EMCO,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said, since March 3, the Henry Gurney school has reported 152 cases, with eight staff infected along with 139 students and family members.

Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 1,745 new coronavirus cases and 2,276 recoveries over a period of 24 hours.

There have been 280,707 recoveries so far against a national caseload of 305,880.

Seven deaths were also recorded, taking the death toll to 1,148. – March 4, 2021.
