UMNO must hold an emergency supreme council meeting to reject Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s leadership and break off ties with Bersatu, said Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
“This is in line with the 147 Umno divisions that have voted for this in their meetings,” said the veteran Umno leader in a statement today.
The 83-year-old Gua Mustang MP, popularly known as Ku Li, said that Umno should also reject Muhyiddin’s leadership.
“The supreme council should also order Umno and Barisan Nasional’s MPs to reject Muhyiddin’s leadership before Parliament convenes again,” said Tengku Razaleigh, one day after the Bersatu president celebrated his first anniversary as prime minister.
In January, 118 Umno divisions passed resolutions to ask the Umno leadership to break off ties with Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional in the upcoming elections.
The Umno divisions also called on the leadership to halt all political cooperation with Bersatu.
But despite several supreme council meetings, with the latest in Janda Baik two weeks back, the leaders decided to leave the decision to the general assembly which will be held on March 27 and 28. – March 2, 2021.
