EMCO ends in two areas in Sibu except for certain apartment blocks

THE enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) has ended for two places in Sarawak, Townvilla housing and the Sibujaya flats, both in Sibu, from March 4.

However certain blocks of the Sibujaya flats will remain under EMCO from March 5 to 11, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

These are blocks C, H, J, K, L, N and R.

In other parts of the flats, the number of Covid-19 cases have reduced, he told a press conference today.

“There is improvement at Townvilla housing and the Sibujaya flats, but cases are still high at the C, H, J, K, L, N and R blocks.”

“We agreed to lift the EMCO at the two localities but the blocks mentioned will stay under EMCO for a week,” he said.

Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry have tested 6,818 residents and have found 277 positive cases.

“The trend has slowed down and numbers are decreasing. From the two localities involving more than 6,000 people, only 277 individuals are now infected,” he added.

The EMCO in the two localities was supposed to end on March 4. – March 2, 2021.
