7 new Covid-19 clusters, one at old folk’s home

THE Health Ministry today reported seven new Covid-19 clusters, one of them linked to an old folk’s home.

At the same time, 10 clusters were resolved today, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today.

This means there are now 488 active clusters in the country.

New cluster called Jalan Cempedak in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur logged 10 cases. The cluster is linked to a care home for the aged, a high risk group for Covid-19.

The new Bukit Marak cluster in Kelantan reported 66 cases. The cluster was categorised as cases of community transmission, which had been detected in the ,Bachok and Kota Baru districts.

The remaining five new clusters were linked to workplaces.

Three of them were in Johor and all were connected linked to factories. The Kempas Tiga cluster reported the most number of cases with 344, followed by the Sungai Burong and Jalan Wawasan 12 clusters with 22 and seven cases, respectively.

The two other workplace clusters were in shopping outlets in Selangor.

The Desa Empat cluster in Sungai Buloh saw 18 cases while a supermarket in Kuang was the centre of the Jalan Melati cluster which contributed seven cases.

Noor Hisham declared that the Pasir Barat, Sri Suria, Nilam Tiga, Persiaran Sabak, Tembok Kemus, Intan Delima, Pengerang Utara, Sungai Purun, Lapangan Siber and Bedayan clusters were resolved after a period of surveillance. – March 1, 2021.
