Nine new virus clusters

Nine new Covid-19 clusters have been reported in the past 24 hours, all of which are related to workplaces. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Irwan Majid, February 28, 2021.

HEALTH authorities recorded nine new Covid-19 clusters today, all of which were linked to workplaces, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

This puts the current number of active clusters at 491, after three other clusters ended today.

Those that ended were the Jalan Rami Tiga cluster, Lingkaran Maluri cluster, and Sri Plentong cluster.

Four of the new clusters are in Johor and contributed 77 infections today.

They are the Jalan Timah Tiga cluster (31), Jalan Tanjung Empat cluster (28), Jalan Desa Tropika cluster (10) and  Batu Empat cluster (8), all involving factories. 

Meanwhile, Selangor recorded three new clusters with one each in Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Petaling and Kuala Selangor, all of which all were also linked to factories.

The Perusahaan Jalan Bukit cluster (262), Waja Industry Cluster (248), and Jalan Selisik cluster (17) recorded over 324 cases in total.

Kuala Lumpur also recorded a new cluster in Kepong at a construction site located on Jalan Bukit 1. This cluster was detected through targeted screening of employees at the site, and 181 individuals are now positive.

In Penang, the Jalan Sg Baong cluster involving a factory was detected in Seberang Prai, and has 40 cases to date.

This cluster was located at Furniture Industrial Estate, south of Seberang Perai. – February 28, 2021.
