Email me directly on vaccine queue-jumping, Khairy tells whistleblowers

HEALTHCARE workers who know of non-elected “VVIPs” cutting the frontliners’ queue for Covid-19 vaccination can email Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin directly.

The coordinating minister for Malaysia’s Covid-19 immunisation said he took allegations about queue-jumping seriously and had informed director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah about it.

“Whistleblowers can send emails anonymously to me at [email protected] and I will investigate,” he said on Twitter today.

“My team has been monitoring whistleblowers’ comments on social media about vaccine queue-jumping. I share it immediately with Dr Chong (the deputy director-general) who is with me in the task force, to investigate.

“We take every exposé seriously. Vaccine equity is important,” Khairy said in another tweet.

Allegations of queue-jumping by politicians not meant to receive in the vaccine under the current first phase for front-liners have been raised on social media.

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang earlier today urged Putrajaya to take notice and address the matter.

Among those who brought it to light were a Twitter user named Rafidah Abdullah, who is also a public healthcare doctor.

Khairy tagged her in one of his tweets today, thanking her for raising the issue and stressing that he took the matter seriously.

He also clarified that while elected representatives are included as front-liners to receive the vaccine under the first phase, the allegations involved “VVIPs” who are not elected.

“These VVIPs are not elected representatives but are getting on to the list. This cannot be. And to elected reps, I appeal that you get it (the vaccine) in stages.

“There are some states where all excos are given it one shot. Not good.” – February 28, 2021.
