THREE Amanah assemblymen have shifted their allegiance from the party to Pakatan Harapan-ally PKR.

Senggarang assemblyman Khairuddin A. Rahim confirmed that three of them have moved to PKR.

“Yes, now I am a PKR member, along with two other Amanah assemblymen. We applied to join the party in September last year and only in October it was approved,” he told The Malaysian Insight when contacted today.

He said the two other assemblymen from the party who have moved are Serom assemblyman Faizul Amri Adnan and Mahkota assemblyman Muhamad Said Jonit.

Khairuddin said their decision to change camps has been endorsed by the leadership of both parties.

“There was no problem between both parties but it has taken time for us to announce the decision.

“People have spotted me in PKR colours, so I am confirming it,” he said.

Khairuddin said it was up to the PKR leadership to decide if it wanted to field him again in the state seat at the next general election.

“I am not looking at a Parliamentary seat, if given an opportunity I am okay to contest but if not, it’s okay.

“If I am not made a candidate also its okay. It’s not a problem for me. Now we must focus on the general election,” he said.

Switching parties among the Pakatan Harapan pact members is not unusual.

Recently in Selangor, Amanah’s Meru assemblyman Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar and its Sabak representative, Ahmad Mustain Othman, switched over to PKR. – February 27, 2021.
