ALMOST 48 hours after receiving the Covid-19 vaccination, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is doing fine, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Noor Hisham said he too was feeling fine after getting the jab on Wednesday.

“It is almost 48 hours later, I’ve not had problems (caused by the vaccine).

“I was informed that the prime minister also did not experience any symptoms after the injection.

“This is an experience that I can share with everyone and I hope many others will feel like me, where they have no symptoms,” Dr Noor Hisham said in a Zoom session today with the media.

Muhyiddin and Dr Noor Hisham received the Covid-19 vaccine at the Presint 11 Health Clinic in Putrajaya on Wednesday.

They were the first in the country to receive the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as the government began a three-phase national immunisation plan to inoculate at least 80% of the population. –

On the possibility of side effects, Noor Hisham said only four people in one million experience them.

He said he has not heard complaints from those who have been been vaccinated.

However, the health authority is not taking any chances and has prepared a special room for those who develop instant reactions to the vaccine.

“The patient will be monitored for 15 to 30 minutes (after receiving shot), so that if there are any issues, we can handle them immediately,” he said.

Noor Hisham said each dose is only 0.3ml.

A large bore needle draws the vaccine from the vial and a fine needle is used to administer the jab, he said.

“I was informed that there could be inflammation and pain in the injected part but because the needle used on me was very fine, I did not feel any pain or fever or any side effects.” – February 26, 2021.
