PARENTS or guardians with children who are schooling in a different district or state are allowed to send their kids to school without a police letter, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said parents only need to obtain a letter from the school and show it to authorities if they get stopped at roadblocks.

Students will return to schools in phases, beginning with pre-schoolers as well as Primary 1 and Primary 2 students, on March 1.

People are still barred from crossing districts and states as the nation continues to see four digits of daily new Covid-19 cases.

Ismail Sabri also clarified that people who are not from the same house are allowed to travel in the same car according to the car’s capacity.

He was responding to news that a driver was given a RM1,000 compound after authorities found that passengers in the car were not from the same house.

“When we decided to increase the capacity of passengers in a car, it also meant that the passengers did not have to come from the same house. The only thing that matters is the car’s capacity to accommodate passengers,” he said during his daily media briefing on Covid-19 SOP today.

People who live in states or districts under the MCO are also permitted to travel more than 10km from their homes as long as they keep within their districts.

The movement-control order (MCO) for Selangor, Johor, Penang and Kuala Lumpur Kuala Lumpur will last until March 4. – February 25, 2021.
