10 out of 13 clusters linked to workplaces

ONLY three of the 13 new Covid-19 clusters reported today were not linked to workplaces.

Workplace clusters continued to dominate the daily list of new clusters, as the Health Ministry reported 10 new ones today.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said with this, the total number of active clusters of infection in the country now stood at 511.

The Kubang Jambu cluster in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu reported seven cases.

The cluster which involved a high-risk group was detected at a healthcare facility at Kampung Bukit Kubang Jambu.

Bukit Petiti, which was the second non-workplace cluster reported today was also discovered in Terengganu. The cluster, which was classified as a community transmission cluster, saw 15 cases and involved the family and friends of the symptomatic index patient.

Meanwhile, another community transmission cluster known as Jalan Green was detected in Kuching, Sarawak. The cluster of six infections was linked to an assembly and was traced to a detainee.

Johor contributed to the greatest number of workplace clusters with five.

The five clusters are Jalan Kota Murni(12), Jalan Murni 12(339), Jalan Tun Mutahir(7), Jalan Indah Utama(23) and Parit Haji Khamis(9).

Selangor reported two workplace clusters, namely Kompleks Perabut and Jalan Sementa, which reported 21 cases and 12 cases respectively.

Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Sarawak, on the other hand reported, one cluster each.

Noor Hisham also announced that nine clusters are now inactive.
