HEALTH authorities recorded 19 new clusters today, with 14 of them linked to workplaces, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Of the non-workplace clusters, four are community-linked and one involving a high-risk group.

The new workplace clusters reported today involved factories or construction sites where targeted screening of workers were carried out, as well as two companies and a supermarket.

Among the community clusters today, one was an old folks home and the other involved people at a funeral, both in Sarawak.

Dr Noor Hisham said the new clusters were mostly found in Johor (4), Selangor (5), Sabah (2) and Sarawak (5).

The recorded clusters today bring the total number of clusters to 1,015 since the onset of the pandemic.

Dr Noor Hisham said nine clusters had ceased to be active today, bringing the total of clusters under surveillance to 499.

Meanwhile, all the non-workplace clusters were reported in Sarawak, with each cluster in Gelong, Kidurong Dua, Kampung Sungai Maong, Univista and Jalan Gerongang.

All 19 clusters reported today recorded less than 20 cases.

Clusters with the highest number of new cases today are Damar cluster (201 cases), Segambut Road cluster (173 cases), and Cyber Industry cluster (161 cases). – February 16, 2021.
