RECOVERIES from Covid-19 were double the number of new infections today, with 5,718 discharged from hospital, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
New cases reported were 2,720, bringing the cumulative caseload to 269,165.
Eight deaths were recorded today, taking the total death toll to 983.
The new recoveries raised the total number of those who have recovered from the coronavirus to 224,053, he said.
There are currently 44,129 active cases.
Selangor once again led the daily tally by state with 1,300 cases, followed by Johor with 451 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 318 cases.
Meanwhile, Sabah reported 132 cases today after dipping into double-digits yesterday for the first time in months.
A total of 57 cases reported were related to clusters in prisons, lock-ups and immigration detention depots.
A total of seven deaths involving citizens were reported, one was a non-citizen. Three were in Kuala Lumpur, two in Selangor, and one each in Sabah, Sarawak and Negri Sembilan.
Meanwhile, 253 patients are currently in intensive care, of whom 118 require respiratory support. – February 16, 2021.
