Manual and online registration for Covid-19 vaccination

THE public can sign up for Covid-19 vaccination manually or through online channels, according to the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme handbook.

People can sign up on the MySejahtera application or the website www.VaksinCovid.gov.my.

People can also register at government or private healthcare facilities, or through a telephone hotline to be announced at a later date.

For those living in remote areas, an outreach programme will be conducted to explain the registration and vaccination process.

A total of 605 vaccination stations will be set up across the country.

Those who experience side effects after getting the jab can report to the nearest health facility or through the MySejahtera application.

They can also do so at the ConSERF NPRA reporting portal at www.npra.gov.my.

Swelling or pain at the injection spot, fatigue, headache, shivers, joint pain, fever, nausea, feeling under the weather, swelling of the lymph nodes are the among the potential post-immunisation side effects.

The national Covid-19 immunisation programme will begin on February 26, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

The first batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines will arrive on February 21.

The first phase of the programme, which is slated to run from February 26 to April, will involve 500,000 people healthcare workers and essential staff like security personnel, essential services and politicians.

The second phase between April and August involves those at high-risk of developing or getting the disease. 

This phase will involve 9.4 million people including essential service workers, senior citizens above the age 65 and those with pre-existing chronic health conditions such as heart problem, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure as well as the differently abled.

The third phase, starting in May, involves adults aged 18 and above. This phase will end in February 2022.

The government aims to immunise 13.7 million people in this phase. Priority will be given to those in red zones.

While the vaccines are safe for most people, the pros and cons of getting inoculated will be reassessed for those with severe allergies, pregnant women or nursing mothers, Covid-19 patients as well as those who have immune issues.
