SARAWAK has allowed non-Muslim houses of worship in the yellow and green zones to resume congregational prayers.

Congregation size, however, is capped at 100 people and they may convene only for prayers, the state disaster management committee said today.

Events such as funerals, weddings, meetings, seminars and courses are still prohibited on those premises.

Daro, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Asajaya, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Kabong and Marudi are the dozen districts in the state’s green zones.

Bau, Matu, Selangau, Kuching, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Sebauh, Lawas, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga and Meradong are in the yellow zones.

Houses of worship in red and orange zones remain shut to the congregation. Only 12 committee members or live streaming crew are permitted to attend prayers at any one time.

Julau, Subis, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu are the 10 districts in the red zone; Lundu, Sri Aman and Samarahan are the three in orange.

The coastal town of Lundu in the southern part of the state slipped back into the orange zone yesterday.

Areas with 41 cases and more are classified red zones; 20 to 40 cases, orange; and one to 19, yellow. Green zones are coronavirus-free.

With the exception of few areas under an enhanced conditional movement control order, Sarawak is under a conditional MCO until March 1. – February 16, 2021.
