THE Health Ministry detected 17 new Covid-19 clusters in the country today, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said 13 of the cluster were workplace related, while two were community based, one high-risk and one detention centre.
Johor reported the most number of clusters today with six, followed by Selangor (3), Kuala Lumpur (3), Kedah (2) and one each for Malacca, Sarawak and Perak.
Noor Hisham said a total of 829 cases were detected in these 17 clusters, of which the workplace clusters contributed to 766 cases or 92% of total cases.
Noor Hisham said the Perdana cluster detected at a factory in Kuala Muda, Kedah, contributed the highest number of cases today with 233 cases.
Other workplace clusters that contributed more than 100 cases are Jalan Air Hitam cluster (108 cases) and Jalan Perindustrian Getah (102) cases, both in Johor.
Three other workplace clusters in Johor – Kampung Tanjung Selabu (92) and Jalan Raja Muar (59) in Muar, and the Jalan Gemilang Lima (42) in Johor Baru – were next biggest clusters .
The three workplace clusters in Selangor are Lembah Subang construction site (28) and Subang Delima (15) in Petaling, and Jalan Bukit Sentosa (14 cases), detected in Rawang.
The three workplace clusters in Kuala Lumpur were detected in Brickfields, Bangsar and Pantai Dalam.
Jalan Berhala cluster in Brickfields reported 21 cases, Jalan Telawi cluster, Bangsar (21 cases) and Bukit Angkasa cluster, Pantai Dalam (20 cases).
The final workplace cluster detected was Dedap, in Kedah, with 11 cases.
Jalan Bakawali Ramun cluster in Johor and Nanga Lijan in Sarawak traced to community transmissions.
The Jalan Bakawali Ramun reported eight cases while Nanga Lijan saw 23 cases.
One cluster related to high-risk group was traced today - Jalan Bukit Baru, detected in the district of Malacca Tengah and Jasin, Malacca.
Eleven cases were detected there.
The final cluster reported today was Tembok Bendera, which is a detention centre in Perak.
