MALAYSIA today recorded 3,384 new coronavirus infections, for a caseload of 254,998.
Thirteen people died from infection over 24 hours.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all except 15 of the new cases were local transmissions.
“Of the 3,369 local transmissions, 1,954 were Malaysians and 1,415 foreigners,” he said in a statement.
Ten of the 15 imported cases were foreigners, he said.
Selangor was again the biggest contributor to the day’s total, with 1,082 cases.
Johor was second with 777 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (435).
Selangor has also logged the most Covid-19 cases at 83,281, followed by Sabah (50,997) and Kuala Lumpur (30,783).
Noor Hisham said recoveries outnumbered new infections, at 3,774.
There are 51,783 active cases, 259 of them in intensive care and 122 of them on respiratory support.
The death toll stands at 936.
Eleven of the 13 who died today were Malaysians.
There were three deaths each in Selangor and Sabah, two each in Johor and Terengganu and one each in Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak.
Ten of the eleven local victims had underlying medical conditions while the medical history of the two foreign deceased was unknown. – February 11, 2021.
