DRIVING and flying schools are allowed to open starting tomorrow.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said recreational fishing is also permitted at the same time.

Previously only fishermen were allowed to do their jobs but now those who wish to fish as a hobby may also do that, he said in his daily media briefing today.

He said the businesses are allowed to open conditional on the owners complying with health and safety rules.

“Sanitisation of the premises must be done every two hours and operating hours will be from 8am to 10pm.

“For the boats, each of them may only be filled to 50% capacity and the boat operator must provide hand sanitiser and the MySejahtera QR code,” he said.

As for driving institutes, the defence minister said they were allowed to open following a presentation from the Transport Ministry.

“Driving institutes will be allowed to operate and will be required to ensure standard operating procedures (SOP) are strictly followed by the personnel as well as students,” he said.

Driving classes, pre-driving tests and practical sessions are allowed but everyone must wear a mask.

Opening hours are from 7.30am to 8pm.

The school must ensure the students are on the premises for their lessons and are not made to wait or linger.

The vehicles are to be sanitised after each practical lesson or test.

Flying academies must also comply with a set of SOPs, he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail said gyms are allowed to open for clients by appointment only, he said. Walk-ins are not permitted.

“Social distancing must be practised and the gym is only allowed to be 30% full at any one time,” he said.

 “Studio classes are not allowed nor is access to the locker and shower rooms.”

Ismail Sabri said that jogging, brisk walking, cycling and exercise limited to two people are allowed, and to be done in the neighborhood only.

He said solo training for sports like football, basketball, hockey and sepak takraw will be allowed.

He said the use of commercial and recreational facilities such as fitness centres, badminton halls, tennis courts, motoring circuits, golf courses, futsal centre and so on must be scheduled and booked, with no walk-ins allowed. – February 11, 2021.
