THE Health Ministry identified 11 new Covid-19 clusters today, taking the total clusters in the country 69 shy off the 1,000 mark, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said three clusters each were detected in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor, while Sabah reported two clusters.
He said seven of the 11 new clusters involved workplaces, while community-based and high-risk groups reported two clusters each.
Noor Hisham said a total of 237 cases were reported in the 11 clusters, with workplaces contributing 181 cases.
The first workplace cluster, Batu 20, was detected at a company in Gombak, Selangor.
Noor Hisham said as of today, 205 people were screened here, of whom 42 tested positive.
Industri Wawasan is the second workplace cluster detected at a factory in Klang, Selangor.
From 116 individuals screened, 38 of them were positive.
The third workplace-related cluster was detected at a construction site in Sepang, Selangor.
In this cluster, 526 individuals were screened, with 29 returning positive.
A construction site in Jalan Tandok in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur saw 25 positive cases out of 188 screened.
The Jalan Dua Belas workplace cluster spreads over the districts of Kepong and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur.
This cluster was detected at a public administration centre in Kg Batu Muda, Kepong where 19 out of 103 screened tested positive.
In Johor Baru, a workplace cluster was detected in Jalan Uda Utama.
This cluster was identified among individuals at a public administration centre in Kota Iskandar.
As of today, 61 people were screened for the virus, where 17 tested positive.
The final workplace cluster reported today is Jalan Tiga KKIP in the district of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
This cluster involves a factory and to date, 11 tested positive.
The two community-based clusters detected are Lorong Sahabat and Jalan Kancil Waha, while the two high-risk clusters are Jalan Harun and Lorong Bersatu Damai.
The Lorong Sahabat cluster was detected in Kluang, Johor.
The name of the cluster refers to the locality of the index case’s residence, who tested positive last Friday.
As of today, 19 individuals were screened, with 17 testing positive for Covid-19.
Noor Hisham said the Jalan Kancil Waha community cluster was also detected in Johor, in the district of Kota Tinggi.
The name of this cluster also refers to the locality of the index case’s residence, which is Jalan Kancil, Rumah Kakitangan Felda Simpang Waha, Kota Tinggi.
A total of 45 people were screened here and nine have so far tested positive.
The director-general said the Jalan Harun high-risk group cluster was reported in the district of Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.
He said this cluster involves a care centre in Jalan Dato Haji Harun, Taman Tayton View, Cheras.
As of today, 11 people were screened, with nine testing positive.
Lorong Bersatu Damai is the final cluster reported today.
This high-risk group cluster spreads over the districts of Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Penampang in Sabah.
Noor Hisham said this cluster involves a medical centre in Lorong Bersatu, Jalan Damai, Kota Kinabalu.
A total of 91 people were screened and 21 were found to be Covid-19-positive.
The 11 new clusters today bring the number of active clusters in the country to 466, of which 82 are still reporting new cases.
Clusters that report high cases today are Tg Suria with 356 cases, Persiaran Perkilangan (319) and Jalan Cochrane (104).
Four clusters ended today, taking the number of clusters that have closed in the country to 465. – February 10, 2021.
