FELCRA Nasaruddin in central Perak and Felda Bersia in northern Perak have been placed under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) for two weeks after recording a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

The EMCO will be enforced from February 3 till 16.

“The Health Ministry has found a significant increase in Covid-19 cases in Felcra Nasaruddin in Perak Tengah.

“There are 28 cases involving this cluster and 45 people are under home quarantine.

“Following the Health Ministry’s advice, the government agreed to impose EMCO for two weeks at Felcra Nasaruddin,” he told a media briefing.

Felda Bersia, meanwhile, has 20 positive cases out of 51 people screened.

The EMCO here will be imposed under Stage 2 and some parts of Stage 1, which are different areas within the Felda settlement.

Targeted screening of 800 residents at the two localities will be carried out by the Health Ministry.

Ismail Sabri also announced the extension of the EMCO at Kg Orang Asli Batu 6 at Jalan Pahang, Batang Padang, Perak.

The EMCO at the Kg Orang Asli Batu 6 began on January 21 and was supposed to end tomorrow.

“The Health Ministry conducted 309 tests and have found 27 positive Covid-19 cases.

“Thirty-four people are under home quarantine and therefore we have agreed to extend the EMCO for another week from February 4 to 10,” he said.

He also announced the end EMCO at Block C and Block Sekolah of the Muar Correctional Rehabilitation Centre.

All 22 cases of Covid-19 here have recovered and there are no more samples that require testing. – February 2, 2021.
